Say what you will about the money I throw away by renting, but the maintenance alone is worth it. The half bath had a leak, and not more than an hour after I called maintenance, someone arrived. Twenty minutes after that, he'd removed the toilet and was attacking the rotting floor (pleasant, no?) with a sawzall. If I were a homeowner I'd, no doubt, be dealing a with a "well, here's your problem, little lady" plumber who'd take god knows how long to fix the problem. Instead, I have someone who came in, determined the problem, and then began to fix it immediately. I *heart* renting. It's almost worth putting up with the beige walls.
